Challenge

The clothing retail sector is a crowded place to launch your own line and gain market share. So the directors wanted locations in popular coastal towns where their heritage and brand fits perfectly with the lifestyle. However, these are some of the most highly demanded retail properties in the UK, with units rarely coming onto the market.

Insight

Having assessed the situation, we knew we’d have to unearth off-market opportunities – making cold approaches to existing retailers and landlords. To be effective, we immersed ourselves in the local property markets, undertaking a town-by-town assessment across the South Coast to see where would complement Seasalt’s retailing style. We also went a little out-the-box in identifying new locations. For example, we recommended opening in the Channel Islands and secured a store in Guernsey.

Outcome

With careful research and strategising – and persuasive negotiation – we’ve been intrinsic in helping Seasalt expand their store portfolio from Cornwall to five new branches, including Salcombe, Exeter and Sidmouth. We continue to dig deeper, open up new opportunities and manage their existing retail property portfolio.
